Fun Family Friendly Things to Do in New Smyrna Beach

There are so many things to do in New Smyrna Beach. Whether it’s surfing, the beach, backwater fishing, paddleboarding, parks, museums, landmarks.. the options are plenty. We’ve made a list of the top ten favorites here, but if you don’t see what you like, give us a call!

  1. Paddleboard New Smyrna: Paddleboarding is fun for the whole family. This friendly group offers lessons, tours, and rentals. Take a tour through the backwaters and conclude with lunch on the water, or launch your vessel and explore on your own.
  2. Marine Education. We have two fantastic local venues for marine awareness and discovery: The Marine Discovery Center: Education, exploration, and conservation are the words you’ll hear at the Marine discovery center in NSB. The Marine Science Center is a great kid-friendly place where you can see turtle rescue in action. Not to mention its next to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, park, and restaurants. Spend a day learning about marine science, climb the lighthouse, dine in the local waterfront restaurant, and play in the park. Your kids will thank you.
  3. Fishing Charters in Mosquito Lagoon: Not only is it a beautiful local to fish, but the bites are plenty. Most aim for the redfish which is good fishing 12 months of the year. Hire a captain who will take you to the best spot. It’s a lovely ride and you’ll come home happy!
  4. Golfing: With 7 golf courses in town, it’s a golfer’s dream. We have municipal to private(with public access). Courses, driving ranges, restaurants, club rentals, cart rentals, lessons. Even kids camp at great rates!
  5. Shuffleboard: Huh? Yes, its right in the middle of town and you can even buy an annual membership for a steep $20 bucks. From October through March, free scheduled shuffleboard lessons are offered at the shuffleboard courts at the Coronado Civic Center. Regularly scheduled tournaments throughout the winter also are offered. The Coronado Civic Center is on the corner of Flagler Avenue and Pine Street, three blocks from the beach.
  6. Canal St: Discover Downtown New Smyrna Beach. Our pedestrian-friendly, tree-lined streets offer a vibrant blend of parks and historic buildings, specialty shops and service businesses, fine dining, art galleries, cultural attractions and the New Smyrna Beach Museum of History.
  7. Do The Loop!: Approx 6 mile waterfront walking/biking path takes you along the main events of town including Canal St, the Intracoastal, Flagler Ave, the Oceanfront in Central beach, and the North Causeway. Take in the sights like the old town, the drawbridge, the river from the top of the bridge. You won’t be disappointed. The loop can also be explored by golf cart.   8. The Arts: The Hub on Canal: A community Artist Co-op hosts galleries, classes, exhibitions, and events. Also, Atlantic Center for the Arts (ACA) is a non-profit artist residency facility located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.” They also have galleries, residency programs, events, shows, etc.
